Yesterday it was reported that Newcastle United's Alexander Isak would pip Liverpool's Mohammed Salah to the December Player of the Month causing quite the upset.

Mo Salah equalled an 11-year record by scoring seven and assisting seven goals in a calendar month and looked like a shoo-in for back-to-back Player of the Month gongs.

However, an X user called @FutSheriff data mined EA FC25 and discovered the Alexander Isak Player of the Month Ultimate Team card meaning that the Newcastle striker had been handed the award.

Today, that has been confirmed with Isak's eight goals in six games being deemed an achievement worthy of the award.

Liverpool fans will be stamping their feet over the decision. It warms our hearts.

Alexander Isak's goals have launched Newcastle back into the race for Champions League football in a dramatic turnaround in form.

We are shocked that the judges went for a Newcastle player over media darlings Liverpool and Mo Salah, and we can't wait to witness the meltdown on social media. Indeed, @FutSheriff himself has replied to a post by Fabrizio Romano saying Salah was robbed. It has already begun.

That being said, Alexander Isak is technically an Arsenal player, so that gives him more weight, doesn't it? Oh wait, no he's not. Never mind.

Can Newcastle clean up in the December awards?

It just remains to be seen now (at the time of writing) whether Isak picks up the Goal of the Month to go along with it and if Eddie Howe is given the Manager of the Month too.

Had Martin Dubravka had any saves to make, he may have found himself in for Save of the Month too but our defensive brick wall rendered the Slovakian redundant.

December was just so good, wasn't it? Brentford away aside, obviously.
