Lloyd Kelly breaks his silence amid rumours Juventus immediately placed him on transfer list after finalising move from Newcastle United

Lloyd Kelly's Newcastle United career lasted around six months after the former Bournemouth defender joined the Magpies on a free transfer last summer.

After his contract expired at the Cherries, Eddie Howe swooped to snap up Lloyd Kelly for the second time in his career, but whereas the first time Howe signed Kelly, he remained at the club for five years, even outlasting Howe himself, the second time was less impressive.

Lloyd Kelly couldn't knock Lewis Hall out of the starting lineup at Newcastle, and with game time limited and a golden opportunity looming, Kelly moved to Juventus in January on loan with an obligation to buy that would land Newcastle £20 million profit a year after bringing him into the club.

It felt like a win-win-win, but Kelly's arrival at Juventus was met with indifference, and then they saw him play, and the Italian media did not hold back comparing him to a Sunday League player. As a result, just days after the £20 million move was finalised, it was reported that Kelly had been placed on Juventus' unwanted list.

Rumours quickly followed, suggesting that Crystal Palace were set to offer Kelly a route back to the Premier League, but a defiant Kelly shot down the rumours in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Interest from Crystal Palace? I’m 100% focused on Juventus and doing well here. I want to remain in Turin for a long time.”

In all fairness, Kelly's input may not be as essential to the next steps as he hopes if the stories about Juventus wanting to move him on are true.

Newcastle could even benefit if he is sold, as it has been reported that the Magpies inserted a sell-on clause into the deal that took Kelly to Juventus, meaning the club could pocket a bit of extra cash if he is moved on.

As useless as Paul Mitchell has been generally, he has played a blinder here.

It would be nice for Kelly to be somewhere he's wanted too, whether that be Juventus or elsewhere. As much as we're happy he's off the books at Newcastle, we aren't wishing for his career to evaporate.
