Alexander Isak being forever linked away from Newcastle United is frustrating for the most part, but every so often, something comes along that makes you do such a loud laugh-snort that it makes your cat jump.

By now, we're all well versed in the rhetoric around Alexander Isak's Newcastle's future: Many clubs want him, nobody can afford him, the media really want him at one of the Premier League darlings. Newcastle would rather eat fetid testicle soup than part with him.

Newcastle hold all the cards when it comes to Isak's future. He's on a good contract already, they are expected to improve those terms before the end of the season and, despite what reports would have you believe, Isak is happy at the club.

However, that won't stop the media pushing the narrative, and now Football Insider have produced our favourite Isak transfer story so far.

The latest Alexander Isak story is borderline offensive

When Football Insider tout something as an exclusive, we're convinced that's just their fancy way of saying "we made this up ourselves" and that definitely seems to be the case here as they believe that Liverpool will sweeten the deal with their move for Alexander Isak by offering us their £85 million mega-flop Darwin Nunez as part of the deal.

Newcastle were looking at Nunez before he moved to Liverpool, and we're sure that everyone who was involved in that scouting mission is thankful that the Reds beat them to it in the end.

Offering Nunez as a replacement for Isak is akin to breaking a Faberge egg and putting a hen's egg in its place and hoping nobody notices. It's borderline offensive.

These fantasy stories always seem to gather the most traction

Darwin Nunez has a good goal-scoring record against Newcastle, but that's about all he can really boast since moving to the Premier League.

We are 100% confident that there's no truth in this story whatsoever, but like the story from SPORT yesterday claiming that Isak would be sold for £85 million, it's being spread around by many outlets.

As we've said before, we have no connections to the club, we have no inside information, but we do our research, and we deploy good old common sense. Even when there's something positive being reported, we still try to be objective and give our thoughts rather than spreading what we deem to be fables.
