If Newcastle United fans weren't already chewing their own lips off in frustration at the club's lack of activity in the transfer market then they will be now.

So far Newcastle have brought in one defender on a free transfer, an aged goalkeeper to be a training dummy alongside the other GK training dummy we already have, and have had our eyes ripped out paying an alleged £20million for a goalkeeper who got replaced by Matz Sels at his last club. Hardly inspiring.

The ongoing pursuit of German centre-back from Malick Thiaw from AC Milan has kept us going but today his agent has said there's nothing close on that front either.

Meanwhile, it is well documented that Newcastle want an attacking right winger to replace Miguel Almiron next season, but as yet there's been no progress on that front either.

Keith Downie has warned fans not to expect much this summer

There's also a clear need for a third striker with Callum Wilson doing his best impression of Samuel L. Jackson in Unbreakable again and set to miss the start of the season.

However, Sky Sports journalist Keith Downie has told a fan on X today not to expect much activity from the Magpies beyond a centre-back and a right winger.

“I can see you signing two players. A RW & a CB.
“The constant message is there isn’t a huge amount of money to spend. Obviously that would change if you made a sizable sale.”

Somebody isn't telling the truth

If what Downie is saying there is true it begs the question - WHERE'S THE BLOODY MONEY?

Newcastle ended their PSR nightmare by selling £68 million of talent that we'd have preferred to have kept only for Darren Eales to say a few days later that we are in a much better financial position now that the new PSR reporting year is here.

How can we be better off and still skint? Both can't be true. There was meant to be a new era of transparency at the club under the new ownership, and while there has been an improvement in communication, it's worth nothing if it's all lies.

Downie mentions having money if we make some big sales, but selling Callum Wilson is out given his surgery, Miguel Almiron is becoming the unflushable turd of Newcastle, Ryan Fraser is still somehow on the books and Eddie Howe is clinging onto the legs of Kieran Trippier wiping snot and tears on his ankles begging him not to go, so we're not sure where that money is going to come from either.
