PIF determined to land Liverpool's Darwin Nunez this summer amid transfer links to Newcastle United

We've been pretty vocal about our thoughts on Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez's links to Newcastle United since the rumours kicked up.

For those who are new here, it's an absolute, unequivocal no, thank you, please.

Newcastle were keen on Darwin Nunez when he looked like a world-beater at Benfica and we were pretty gutted when Liverpool beat us to his signature.

And while if you simply looked at his numbers - 40 goals and 26 assists in 138 games for the Reds, you'd think we were crazy for being so dead against him signing for Newcastle, but if you'd ever watched him play, you'd know where we're coming from.

Darwin Nunez looks to be heading to Saudi Arabia

Arne Slot seems determined to move the Uruguayan out of Liverpool, and reports would have you believe that Newcastle were in the mix for the 25-year-old, but we just don't see it happening.

Now, though, TeamTalk are reporting that Nunez's summer destination looks set to be Saudi Arabia, with PIF-owned club Al-Hilal favourites to land the forward.

That's a move that makes sense. Nunez will actually be amazing in the Saudi Pro League, and if he isn't, nobody will even know.

We can't shake the feeling that he's going to end up at Newcastle at some point

Who knows, if Nunez rediscovers his confidence, then perhaps Al-Hilal will sell him to us for a packet of biscuits just to annoy the rest of the Premier League.

We're just happy to see that he's being linked with a move elsewhere, even if we could pick him up for half of the £85 million Liverpool paid for him, we'd still feel like we were getting ripped off.

But, as we've said before, if he somehow does end up signing for Newcastle, then he's obviously the best player in the world, and Liverpool just didn't know how to get the best out of him.
