Juventus face the difficult task of keeping hold of one of their star players this summer as Newcastle United wait in the wings to launch a bid.

Federico Chiesa continues to be high on Newcastle's list of potential summer signings after the Magpies were linked with a swoop for the winger last summer.

Now with his contract running down at Juventus, the Old Lady have been urged by a former hero Alessio Tacchinardi not to sell him this summer.

After his Player of the Match performance for Italy against Albania in their Euro 2024 opener, Tacchinardi said it would be a mistake to sell Chiesa.

Tacchinardi (via Football Italia) called Chiesa unieque in one-v-one situations.

“I think Juve will make an error if they sell Chiesa. He takes breaks sometimes, but he has a terrific engine. He is unique in one-v-one and he must be given freedom.

“Juventus have never seen the real Chiesa. First, there was competition with Cristiano Ronaldo, and then he got injured. Chiesa always felt misunderstood [at Juventus], but he has a huge and unfulfilled potential. When you have a player like him in the team, you have to keep him.”

We have to act fast on this one - go get him now

Even with a year left on his Juventus deal and talks over a new contract stalling, it's unlikely he would come cheap, however, Give Me Sport claims he could cost half as much as Michael Olise who is the subject of a £60million transfer battle between several top clubs.

If we could pick up Chiesa for £30million then what are we actually waiting for?

Realistically we aren't going to get Olise, and if the other options are Noni Madueke and Federico Chiesa, then it's the Italian all day for us. We have to exploit this contract uncertainty and do it quickly before he has more blinding games for Italy.
