Jarell Quansah tells reporters how difficult 6'6" Newcastle United man is to defend against
Newcastle United appear to have hit the jackpot when they signed Nick Woltemade from VfB Stuttgart in the summer for a club record £69 million.
After failing to sign several striker targets, Newcastle still managed to come out of this as winners, as Benjamin Sesko has struggled to get going at Manchester United, Liam Delap still hasn't scored for Chelsea, and Alexander Isak looks a shadow of his former self at Liverpool.
Joao Pedro and Hugo Ekitike are doing well at Chelsea and Liverpool, respectively. It may just be because we have our heads in the NUFC echo chamber, but it does feel like all the hype is surrounding Nick Woltemade right now.
Even former Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah has been speaking about how hard Woltemade is to play against after the England star came up against the 6'6" German in the summer at the Under-21s European Championships.
Jarell Quansah says Nick Woltemade is a top player
Speaking to reporters from the England camp, Quansah said that Woltemade is simply an 'attacking threat' and he and Charlie Cresswell had to be on top of their game in the U21 Euros final.
"He is just an attacking threat to be honest.
"I think we didn't know exactly what he was going to do in the game as well.
"He varies his game up quite a lot so we obviously had things we had to try and do but when you play against top players like that, you've got to be on your best game.
"Thankfully in that game me and Charlie [Cresswell] managed to do well and obviously bring the cup home for England."
Nick Woltemade has won over his Newcastle United teammates
Big Nick seems to be a hot topic in the international press conferences, with Anthony Gordon also waxing lyrical about Newcastle's new forward and comparing him to England's leading goal-scorer, Harry Kane.
Bruno Guimaraes has also been singing the striker's praises in a recent interview.
It seems that Nick Woltemade is winning everyone over with his personality and his style of play. Being likened to Harry Kane certainly can't be a bad thing.
