Bruno Guimaraes put in a true captain's performance on Sunday, taking charge of a game that Newcastle United had dominated, but Nottingham Forest were making it very difficult.

Newcastle had the lion's share of possession and were creating chances on Sunday, particularly in the second half, but it took a wonder goal from Bruno Guimaraes to finally breach Matz Sels' goal.

The Brazilian was at the centre of things again as he was chopped down in the area by former Mag Elliot Anderson, winning a penalty which German striker Nick Woltemade dispatched with some style.

It's not very often that people go on and on about a goal scored from the spot, but you're not likely to see a more well struck penalty in your life. Inch perfect, full confidence into the roof of the net. Simply stunning.

Bruno Guimaraes is loving what Nick Woltemade can do

Bruno Guimaraes feels Nick Woltemade could easily play in midfield

It wasn't just his penalty-taking ability that impressed Bruno about Woltemade, however, with the Newcastle captain singing his praises to The Northern Echo, saying he has never seen anyone like him.

“Nick has been amazing for us.

“He’s scoring, but it’s not just he’s scoring goals; in the build-up, the way he drops as a number ten to play, it’s not so common for a player that tall to be that good with his feet.

“I have never seen a player that tall be so good with the ball, controlling it and controlling the tempo. He can play as a midfielder, to be fair. I’m pleased for him, and it’s just the beginning.

“I hope he’s enjoying his journey here so far. I think he’s happy. Everyone in the club is happy, and most importantly, the fans are happy with him.”

We might as well address the Yoane Wissa ACL rumour while we're here

There's no real urgency to play Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa together, but it is easy to see how Eddie Howe could make it work by playing one off the other instead of putting two up top.

Wissa is also versatile, having started life as a winger himself. However, to play both, Howe would have to tweak his system and the saying 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' is a thing for a reason.

Of course, this all depends on what happens with this bizarre rumour about Wissa being out for the season and the club waiting until after the international break to announce it.

Someone tell me, in what world does that make sense? Suddenly, the injury that they've been keeping tabs on is an ACL injury when it wasn't before? And why would they wait until after the break to announce it? What difference would it make? We all need to calm down.
