You have to feel bad for Jamie Miley. The eldest of the Miley brothers has had to watch his younger sibling burst into the Newcastle United first-team and become universally adored while he remained in the Under 21s.
Jamie Miley flirted with the first-team in pre-season when Lewis Miley was out injured, and it looked as though Jamie had opened up a route to the first-team like his younger brother.
Unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be and Jamie Miley was loaned out to Newport County where injuries limited the 21-year-old to just three appearances before being recalled to Newcastle.
Since then, Miley has been training with Hartlepool United in a bid to earn himself a permanent contract.
The Shields Gazette have reported that the National League side are confident that an agreement will be reached this week which will see Jamie Miley's Newcastle United dream come to an end.
Under 21's boss Diarmuid O'Carroll recently spoke very highly of Miley and hinted that any move away would be a temporary one.
“Jamie's done brilliant, he came back in. He played [at Southampton]. He was a shining light in the performance.
“He's been brilliant around the group. He's a really good boy. Obviously gets on really well with the lads.
“A talented footballer, like everything, just wants to find a home and get a run of games and get a little bit of confidence in the right team around him. So whether that's here for the second half of the season or out again or wherever he goes.
“But he's someone that we believe has got talent and we'd like to push him on and see where he goes next.”
However, it looks like Miley's exit will be a permanent one with the Gazette stating that Miley's exit will be the second permanent exit along with Miguel Almiron this month.
Starting at the bottom of the football ladder and working his way back up could end up being a fantastic story for Jamie Miley. We have seen he has the talent, but injuries have played a huge part in his development.
We wish Jamie the best of luck for the future.
