Kieran Trippier provided a rare moment of humour in his pre-Paris Saint-Germain press conference at St. James' Park on Tuesday evening, when outlining just how much his young son loves Kylian Mbappé.

Newcastle's on-field captain (when Jamaal Lascelles doesn't play) explained that Trippier Jr. can often be found watching YouTube clips of the French superstar at home and is obsessed with the PSG number seven.

He even went on to say that his lad had requested to walk out with Mbappé rather than his father in the first Champions League match seen at Gallowgate in two decades and was seemingly quite put out about it.

If you missed the clip on Tuesday, here it is again:

In an amusing follow-up to his press conference anecdote, Trippier took to his Instagram account on Thursday to share a snap of Trippier Jr. drowning in Mbappé's match-worn shirt from Newcastle's stunning victory with the simple caption "Good morning 👕😀".

Trippier dealt with Mbappé superbly on Wednesday evening, so much so that PSG's star man ended up in an entirely different position to the one he started in.

Still, it was a very classy move by the forward to give his shirt to his opposite number despite his and his team's embarrassing performance.

Here's the photograph in question:

Tripps has absolutely nailed the unimpressed look there, hasn't he? What a bloke.

He's also been called up to the England squad by Gareth Southgate again today, though the form of Ollie Watkins and a pair of tight hamstrings have seen Callum Wilson drop out.

Newcastle's number two is looking to earn his 44th and 45th caps in the matches against Australia and Italy, which are set to take place on Friday 13th October and Tuesday 17th October, respectively.
