It looks like Arsenal are starting to look elsewhere in their search for a striker. Actually, let's put that right, it looks as though the London-centric media are starting to accept that Arsenal may look elsewhere in their search for a striker after being adamant that Alexander Isak should prostrate himself before Mikel Arteta and take up his place in the Gunners side.
There is obviously an interest from Arsenal in Alexander Isak. They need a striker and there aren't many better around than Newcastle United's number 14. The fact that he is so often compared to Arsenal hero Thierry Henry, and wears the same number as him, makes for a brilliant story, but the truth is, Arsenal will be very aware of what it would take to free Isak from his Newcastle contract and they'll know that it's just not worth it.
The money it would cost for them to sign Isak would buckle rule them out of any other meaningful transfers for so long that if anything were to go wrong, they'd be up the creek without a paddle.
Therefore, it makes sense that Arsenal are looking elsewhere for cheaper alternatives.
A name familiar to Newcastle United fans has now popped up as someone Arsenal are keen on, along with West Ham and Liverpool.
Now, a report from Foot Mercato suggests the Premier League trio are looking at Hugo Ekitike as an option. The France striker turned down a move to Newcastle after everything was in place to join Paris Saint-Germain on loan ahead of making it a permanent transfer with an obligation to buy.
The move to PSG didn't go as planned, and just six months after making his move a permanent one, he was loaned to Eintracht Frankfurt before making that move permanent too.
Ekitike has found his form again at Frankfurt, however, having scored 17 goals this season in all competitions, which has alerted the Premier League trio.
Newcastle had been linked with a return for Ekitike before his move to Frankfurt, but it looks like we've dropped our interest now.
We believe that Ekitike would be a good move for Arsenal; they can probably get the best out of him. If it wasn't for the way he conducted himself when he was negotiating with Newcastle, I'd say we should go back in for him, but he burnt that bridge in 2022.
