Sandro Tonali is hungry! The Italian midfielder posted on social media after Newcastle United's win against Tottenham Hotspur that his side are raring to go.
Since returning from his 10-month ban, Sandro Tonali has fought his way into the starting XI after a shaky start which saw that old question of whether he and Bruno Guimaraes could play alongside each other rear its head again.
After a bit of trial and error, Eddie Howe has now stumbled on the formula that makes that partnership work. In fact, it's a trio, as Joelinton completes the set which is being touted as the best midfield three in the Premier League bar Liverpool - and some pundits would even argue with that.
With Tonali sitting deeper, the Brazilians are allowed to roam free, but that doesn't stop the Italian from getting involved either having scored twice against Brentford last month.
With a Carabao Cup semi-final first leg to contend with at the Emirates stadium tonight, Sandro Tonali is feeling feisty. He sat down with Keith Downie for Sky Sports and declared that they are want to bring the trophy home for the fans.
"It will be a difficult, difficult game, but we are Newcastle United. We need to play, to do everything, to run 100%. We play for the team, we play for the fans.
"The fans, they dream of this trophy for 70 years.
"When you arrive in the semi-final it's only one game. We have the first semi-final then we have the second semi-final and anything is possible."
Imagine how up for this game he'd be if he actually wanted to be here and wasn't counting down the days until he could return to Italy and play for AC Milan again.
Seriously, there's no part of be that believes that Tonali isn't 100% committed to the cause at Newcastle.
Since his return we've climbed up the league and are back in contention for a Champions League spot, we're in the semi-final of a cup competition. Things are looking good for us right now and Tonali is feeling it.
