Eddie Howe to throw up no big surprises - Our predicted lineup to face Man City

Manchester City face Newcastle United at St James' Park on Saturday evening for the 5:30pm kick-off live on TNT Sports.

It's a huge test for Eddie Howe's men after their 3-0 demolition of Sunderland last week. While we don't enjoy celebrating a player being injured, it has been a small relief to hear that Erling Haaland will miss the game for Pep Guardiola's side.

Granted that doesn't instantly make them beatable, but it certainly helps matter.

Both sides are missing big players for Saturday's clash

Unfortunately, Newcastle will also be without a key player as Joelinton has now been ruled out for at least six weeks. In the absence of any new returning players, the side once again pretty much picks itself.

Goalkeeper

Martin Dubravka - Dubravka is finding his groove a bit now. He made a couple of quality saves against the Mackems on Saturday.

Defence

Kieran Trippier - Tripps finally catches a break now that the fixture list has opened up a bit. A week of solid training won't have hurt either.

Fabian Schar - Fresh off the back of signing a new contract, Fabi should be raring to go.

Sven Botman - We were looking forward to seeing how he handled Erling Haaland again, but at the same time, glad he doesn't have to.

Dan Burn - Would he be our choice? No, we'd rather have Tino Livramento with his pace, but this is a prediction of what Eddie Howe will do and Burn starts.

Midfield

Lewis Miley - We aren't 100% on this as we had heard that he's had to have a scan following Luke O'Nien's tackle, but given we've heard nothing since we think he'll be fine.

Bruno Guimaraes - We need Bruno to have one of his better games to stand any chance of getting a result.

Sean Longstaff - No Joelinton will see Longy on the left of Bruno with Miley on the right which will leave Bruno with a lot to do.

Forwards

Miguel Almiron - The Paraguayan Flamingo had a good game against the Mackems, hopefully it continues against City.

Alexander Isak - We still don't feel he's 100% fit but with nobody else available it falls on his shoulders to lead the line. He did get a brace at the weekend so that will help his confidence.

Anthony Gordon - AG10 has run himself into the ground for Newcastle this season and will likely be begging for this two-week break. Go out there and earn it.
