Newcastle United have been reported as looking at potentially replacing Eddie Howe with Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann in the summer.

The 36-year-old Germany coach is undecided on his future with his contract due to expire after this summer's European Championships and Bild reporter Christian Falk believes Newcastle are keen to have him as their coach next season.

We've already said how we don't buy into what Falk is selling and we're not the only ones.

Craig Hope was quick to pour cold water on the Nagelsmann rumours

Craig Hope is usually the man in the know with things going on in and around the club, and is often spot-on with his reporting so we're going with Hope over Falk on this one.

Hope took to X to allay any fears that Eddie Howe was due for the chop reiterating that the club still sees Howe as the man to lead Newcastle forward into the future.

"Reiterated today that Eddie Howe is the man Newcastle are invested in & believe in for the long term. Plans in the making for a busy summer."

Stability is the key

Amanda Staveley, backed by the PIF and The Reuebens, has consistently said that what they are doing is a long-term plan, they're not looking for instant miracles. That more than suggests that they are aware there will be peaks and troughs along the way and won't be swinging the axe as soon as things aren't going their way.

Football has become far too reactionary when things are going bad with clubs changing managers on a whim, and it very rarely works out for them. Then you look at clubs who give managers time to settle, time to grow and time to get things right and you can see the difference. Manchester City started off chopping and changing managers but since they've stuck with Pep Guardiola things have never been better. Jurgen Klopp has done excellent at Liverpool and now Mikel Arteta is starting to deliver at Arsenal.

Sticking with Eddie Howe is the smart play. Give him the summer to recruit without the interference of a sporting director, give him time next season to see how we get on with a fully fit squad and then we can start judging him more harshly.
