Newcastle United's St. James' Park will be one of the venues used for the UK and Ireland European Championships in 2028.

St. James' Park is no stranger to international football and indeed Olympic football after being used as a host venue for several international events over the years.

Currently the seventh largest club stadium in England, St. James' Park is once again set to be a venue when the UK and Ireland host Euro 2028.

With all the speculation over the stadium expansion, it will be interesting to see how Newcastle's iconic stadium looks in just over four year's time when the tournament kicks off.

If Newcastle are hoping to have any expansion completed in time for the international tournament, they'll need to act fast to ensure that everything is completed in time.

On the other hand, they could use this to further delay the expansion as they'll not want to host the UEFA competition at a building site.

The news came via a post on X by UEFA which confirmed that Newcastle would be one of the proposed host cities for the tournament, but there's unlikely to be any reason why St. James' Park would not be chosen, unless the stadium will be part building site at that point.
