Bruno Guimaraes takes to Instagram to fire up 'vital' Toon Army ahead of massive clash with Chelsea next week

Newcastle United dropped points in the race for the Champions League places on Sunday only managing a draw against Brighton at the AMEX Stadium.

Although, in fairness, we should be saying that Newcastle picked up a point in the race for the Champions League as Newcastle have never won at the AMEX Stadium, so expecting three points would have been a tad hopeful.

A point still keeps the Magpies in fourth place, but Chelsea's shock win over Liverpool in the later game really makes things too close for comfort now.

Chelsea are next up for Newcastle at St James' Park in a game that will have a huge bearing on the final league positions. This is perhaps Newcastle's biggest game of the season since the Carabao Cup final.

Bruno Guimaraes believes the Newcastle fans will be 'vital' to the side's success next week

Bruno Guimaraes took to Instagram to address the Geordie Nation after the 1-1 draw yesterday, and his message is clear - turn up and be loud next week at St James' Park.

"An important point given the circumstances. We keep pushing toward our goal. Your support will be vital next Sunday — let’s create an unforgettable atmosphere. Howay the lads! 🖤🤍3️⃣9️⃣"

The Toon Army will play a massive part in next week's game, and no doubt Chelsea's instructions will be to go out there and shut up the crowd ASAP, so we have to be sure our voice boxes are nicely lubricated and ready for 90 minutes of continuous noise.

The St James' Park crowd can only do so much

Dan Burn has also mentioned the importance of the crowd ahead of next week's game, so it's clear the lads are counting on us to be the 12th man.

Eddie Howe still has his part to play, though, dropping Joe Willock and giving Lewis Miley the final three games would certainly be a good step.

It may also be time to bring Anthony Gordon back into the starting lineup, as he had a huge impact yesterday. That may be a tad harsh on Harvey Barnes, but it's about points now.
