Last month Fabrizio Romano claimed Newcastle United had submitted a proposal to 19-year-old Arsenal winger Amario Cozier-Duberry.

Cozier-Duberry has been described as the next Bukayo Saka and Newcastle have tried their luck to get in there while his Arsenal future is up in the air according to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The 19-year-old's Arsenal contract is set to expire at the end of this month meaning he will be free to go wherever he chooses with the Magpies obviously hoping that the offer they proposed will be good enough to sway the winger to them.

However, it now seems, according to Newcastle World, that Arsenal aren't giving up the fight and have entered talks with the youngster.

Arsenal are in talks with Cozier-Duberry over a new deal

Newcastle World noted that Arsenal mentioned Cozier-Duberry in their recent statement regarding their retained players.

"Please note the following players’ contracts also expire on June 30. Discussions are ongoing and once matters are finalised between all parties, we will communicate in due course: Amario Cozier-Duberry, Karl Hein, Reuell Walters. “We thank all the players leaving us for their contributions to the club. You will always be part of the Arsenal family and we wish you all the best of health and happiness in your futures."

It certainly feels like The Gunners are leaving things a bit late, but they may be confident of tying him down with another contract.

Cozier-Duberry is yet to make his competitive debut for Arsenal

We'll have to wait and see how this one goes, and just how long it is until Chelsea swoop in and hijack the deal.

Cozier-Duberry's only senior Arsenal appearances came in a friendly against Juventus in December 2022, but Mikel Arteta is said to be impressed with the youngster and keen to keep him at the club.

If Newcastle can pull this one off it would be a huge coup for the club and a big statement of intent that we are able now to take hot prospects away from the "big six".
