Newcastle United have had players represented in the BBC's and WhoScored?'s Team of the Week after their 3-0 win over Ipswich Town and now Alan Shearer has followed suit with his selections.

While both Troy Deeney for the BBC and WhoScored? selected three Newcastle United players in their teams, Alan Shearer kept his selection down to two.

Only Kieran Trippier features in all three teams, Dan Burn makes it into the BBC and WhoScored?'s teams, with Sandro Tonali and Alexander Isak being the interchangeable players between the BBC and WhoScored?

However, Alan Shearer didn't pick either of those two for his team, bringing another player into focus instead.

Alan Shearer makes a surprise inclusion in his Team of the Week

As already stated, Shearer did pick Kieran Trippier in his Team of the Week, which makes sense given his two assists on Saturday, however, the former Toon skipper also selected Jacob Murphy as part of his best XI, saying that he was a constant menace for Ipswich.

Kieran Trippier (Newcastle)
“Is really finding his form, providing two assists as Newcastle boosted their prospects of a top-five finish.”

Jacob Murphy (Newcastle)
“Won the penalty that Alexander Isak converted to open the scoring and was a constant menace for the Ipswich defence.”

No room for Big Dan Burn in Alan Shearer's team?

We absolutely cannot argue with Kieran Trippier's selection, the 34-year-old added another top performance to his ever growing list as he's rolled back the years.

But while Jacob Murphy didn't have a bad game, we're not sure winning a penalty (a soft penalty at that) is enough to warrant a spot on Team of the Week. Not that we mind, it's always good to see the spotlight shining on our players.

Big Dan Burn could feel slightly aggrieved after being left out of Alan Shearer's team, given his inclusion in Troy Deeney's and WhoScored's after scoring his first Premier League goal of the season. Maybe Big Al didn't want to seem too biased.
