Newcastle United bounced back from their bruising defeat at Aston Villa with a 3-0 win over Ipswich Town at St James' Park on Saturday.
It seemed for the opening half an hour that it was going to be 'one of those games' with Newcastle unable to turn their dominance into goals with Sandro Tonali curling a stunning effort off the woodwork and Harvey Barnes' follow up coming to nothing.
That chance came immediately after Alexander Isak lashed a volley that was so poor that it ended up looking like a brilliant pass out wide - it wasn't.
However, the lads stuck to their task and got the job done with goals from Alexander Isak, Dan Burn and Will Osula and two assists for Kieran Trippier.
Two of Newcastle's goalscorers and their main provider from the day made it into Troy Deeney's Team of the Week for the BBC, and while we appreciate it, Isak's inclusion is slightly baffling to us.
"Kieran Trippier (Newcastle): He was excellent, assured, calm and quality on the ball. At the ripe old age of 34, he is still showing that it's necessary to have experience in the side. He helped Newcastle to manage the game when they went 2-0 up. He showed quality for two of the goals - standing a cross up for Dan Burn and also his corner for Newcastle's third was magnificent."
"Dan Burn (Newcastle): Burn is the magic man of Newcastle, he just keeps on going. Every time you think his story is doing to drop off, he just keeps getting better. Burn had a real ding-dong with Liam Delap but had the Ipswich forward in his back pocket and then also scored a goal."
"Alexander Isak (Newcastle): He could have scored four on the day. His movement and link-up play is excellent. This guy is the complete striker in world football."
The fact that Deeney says that Isak could have scored four, but the only chance he converted was the one from the penalty spot, gives us a very different view of his performance. Isak of old would have buried the other three.
Still, it's just nice to see a pundit praising Isak without mentioning Arsenal or Liverpool, so we'll take it.
We can't argue with the inclusion of Burn and Trippier, though, especially the latter. Trippier has been so good of late.
