Bruno Guimaraes took all the plaudits yesterday as he helped Newcastle United to a 3-2 away win at Nottingham Forest.
The Brazilian admitted after the game that he almost didn't play after fighting off an illness through the week, and even though he didn't feel 100% he managed to put in a Player of the Match performance and score two goals.
Bruno opened and closed the scoring on the day, bookending a five-goal thriller at the City Ground with a sumptuous volley on 10 minutes and a low curling drive outside the area on 66 minutes.
Guimaraes almost got carried away with his celebrations after the second goal as he ran over to the Toon Army but managed to keep his distance from the fans just enough to avoid a yellow card which would have given him a two-game suspension for accumulating 10 bookings this season.
After the game, Bruno took to Instagram to share in his delight in his performance which drew responses from the likes of Harrison Ashby, Fabian Schar and Alan Shearer who all used emojis to convey their message rather than words.
"3 points 2 goals and man of the match! Nothing better than this feeling! Thank you god to always be with me!"
Shearer opted to reply with several clapping emojis. We'll expect to see Bruno in his Premier League Team of the Week as a result.
This one one of Bruno's better performances this season and he was the catalyst for the result. He controlled everything in the midfield and rarely put a foot wrong.
These types of performances have been less common this season compared to the season and a half before, but it serves as an excellent reminder of what an unbelievable talent we have on ur hands.
