Newcastle United posted another gallery of images from training today and there were some rarely-seen faces among the crowd.

Harrison Ashby who had spent the last year at Swansea was seen training with the lads as they took to the Darsley Park pitches on Friday.

But he wasn't he only forgotten full-back making a return to training at Benton with a £15million left-back seen in action in Newcastle's colours for the first time in ages.

No, not that one, not Matt Targett. We still don't know where he is, we're talking about Jamal Lewis.

Jamal Lewis was spotted back in training on Friday

Jamal Lewis signed from Norwich for £15million four years ago, signing a five-year deal, a simple sum should tell you that means the Northern Ireland international still has a year left on his Newcastle contract.

It's believed that Lewis will once again be shopped out by the club, preferably on a permanent basis, but for now he has been pictured, albeit in the background and slightly blurred out, in Friday's training gallery.

Lewis arrived at Newcastle will a tonne of promise, likely created by his whopping transfer fee, but he's never really looked anywhere near what we thought we'd be getting.

Jamal Lewis could be sent to the U21s to train if he doesn't leave this summer

Jamal Lewis spent last season on loan at Watford, making 38 appearances, but the Championship side won't be making the move a permanent one.

There were reports this week that suggested that Lewis would be sent to train with the reserves if a new club couldn't be found for him this summer, suggesting that there really isn't a future for him at Newcastle.

And yet, we're still paying £100k-a-week for Matt Targett to be there who is probably even more useless at this point.
