'100%': Bruno Guimaraes restored to Brazil lineup as Samba Boys demolish Peru

After Dorival Junior reworked his midfield leaving Bruno Guimaraes on the bench in the game against Chile last week, the Newcastle United midfielder was restored to the starting lineup as Brazil faced Peru in the latest World Cup qualifier.

It was a Bruno Guimaraes assist that set up the winning goal against Chile after coming on as a half-time substitute, so it would have been pretty arrogant of Dorival Junior to stick with that failed midfield after that.

Brazil made it two wins in two in the early hours of this morning sweeping aside Peru with a 4-0 win and putting Brazil back on track in the World Cup qualifiers.

While Bruno didn't get himself on the scoresheet, he played a huge part in the victory.

Bruno Guimaraes won all of his ground duels last night

GOAL gave their usual player ratings after the game, handing Bruno Guimaraes a 7/10.

"Bruno Guimaraes (7/10):

"Up for all of the dirty work in midfield. Won 100 percent of his ground duels and probably got away with a few, too."

Hopefully Bruno comes into Saturday's game with the same attitude

It seems Bruno had a point to prove winning 100% of his ground duels. We could certainly do with that kind of statistic on Saturday when the lads face Brighton.

Of course the most important thing for Newcastle fans is that Bruno is fit and good to go again at the weekend.

Meanwhile Miguel Almiron managed 80 minutes for Paraguay as they beat Venezuela 2-1 and it seems Miggy is also returning unharmed and ready for Saturday.
