On Tuesday it was reported by Fabrizio Romano that Newcastle United had won the race for 18-year-old Spanish wonderkid Antonio Cordero from La Liga 2 side Malaga.

The winger was being tracked by some top clubs including Barcelona and Real Madrid in his native Spain, but it was Newcastle who ultimately won the race to sign the promising Spain U19 international.

It's expected that Antonio Cordero, also known as Antonito, will join the Magpies in June and the original plan was reportedly to loan him back to Malaga next season.

However, the Malaga bosses were left raging after seeing their player mocked up in a Newcastle kit in a transfer announcement that they were not ready to make.

Malaga have not reacted well to the news of their young star choosing a new club

Spanish outlet AS has reported that Malaga bosses were livid at the leak and even said they knew nothing about the agreed move, however, sources inside the club have since confirmed the deal is on and Cordero will sign a deal until 2030, according to The Chronicle.

The Malaga spokesperson pulled no punches when speaking to AS, saying that the news came off the back of a 'deplorable' performance that was one of a player 'with his head elsewhere'.

Malaga are on a run of three straight defeats and having one of their most important players announce that they are leaving isn't expected to help turn their fortunes around.

Newcastle may have to find another club to loan Antonio Cordero to next season

The whole ordeal has soured the relationship between Malaga and Antonito's representatives which has put a huge question mark over the proposed loan back next season.

Despite being just 18 years old, Antonito has made 53 senior appearances for Malaga scoring six goals and providing eight assists, however, it's unlikely that Eddie Howe would expect him to perform in the Premier League right away, hence a loan back to Malaga being proposed.

Now, though, with the situation the way it is, Newcastle may have to find somewhere else to send him. Given the competition for his signature, we're sure he won't be short of offers.
