Newcastle United have a few big decisions to make ahead of the summer with eight players currently looking at expiring contracts.

While Fabian Schar and Emil Krafth are said to be in talks over a new deal ahead of their summer expirations dates, there are still six players whose futures are currently looking like they will be away from St James' Park.

One such player is Callum Wilson whose contract will expire in the summer unless Eddie Howe gets his way and a new deal is offered to the £20 million signing from Bournemouth.

Callum Wilson marked his first start of the season with a goal on Saturday against Birmingham, and after spending an extended amount of time in rehab making sure he's fully fit, it's hoped that he will see out the rest of the season without further layoffs having only played an hour of football this season before Saturday.

West Ham could snap up Callum Wilson this summer

We have said that if Wilson can stay fit and bang in a few goals between now and the end of the season then we can see the benefit of keeping him around, but one more injury, even if it's just for one game, then we should let him leave when his contract runs down.

Should it come to that, TalkSPORT believes that West Ham will offer the former England striker a Premier League lifeline.

Whether the Hammers want him to lead their line or they just want to make sure he can't play against them anymore, we're not sure. He does love a goal against West Ham.

The Hammers have been keen on Wilson for a while

It's never a bad idea to snap up your nemesis. We did it with Ryan Taylor. He would always score against Newcastle, so we brought him to the club. Problem solved.

West Ham have been chasing Wilson for a while, in fairness, with a January bid mooted last year.

We'll just have to see how he gets on for the rest of the season to judge how we feel about what happens next for the handsome bugger.
