Arsenal were humbled by Newcastle United for the second time in a month as the Eddie Howe's boys out-played, out-classed and out-smarted Mikel Arteta's side to book their place in next month's Carabao Cup final at Wembley.

Newcastle went man-to-man with Arsenal's players and they simply couldn't handle it. You could tell that they were visibly frustrated by the sheer amount of times they lashed out with pointless fouls. Declan Rice was lucky to still be on the pitch after giving a Bruno Guimaraes-esque elbow shortly before sliding in with a poorly timed challenge on Bruno himself. If the Brazilian had stayed on the deck, we expect there'd have been a card for Rice.

The Toon Army were on fire last night and created a non-stop wall of noise from before the kick-off until after the final whistle, and one chant dominated the second half.

After last month's first-leg defeat, Mikel Arteta opted to blame the Carabao Cup ball for being too light and moving differently to the Premier League ball, as if Newcastle were playing with a different ball.

The Culprit

After Anthony Gordon effectively put the tie to bed scoring the second on the night and the fourth goal in the tie, the Newcastle fans began chanting "It must be the ball, it must be the ball, Mikel Arteta, it must be the ball".

Not wanting to miss out, the club's social media admin got in on things by posting a picture of the Carabao Cup ball with a caption "The Culprit".

They also clipped the brilliant moment in Anthony Gordon's post-match interview which was interrupted by Bruno Guimaraes coming in to give Gordon a kiss.

Newcastle's players looked more 'business-like' in their celebrations

We were disappointed that there was no mention of Dan Burn's suit, but you can't have everything.

While spirits were hight last night, the lads didn't seem to be getting carried away as much as they did two years ago, even David Chapman said on Sky Sports last night that the reaction is more business-lilke than it was last time. Lessons were learned it seems.

Let's just hope that we don't see them getting distracted between now and then as we need to get our Premier League form back, not to mention despatching Birmingham City on Saturday to progress in the FA Cup.
