Watch: Marc Guehi gives non-verbal hint over his future outside Crystal Palace training ground

Newcastle United are locked in discussions with Crystal Palace over a deal for England centre-back Marc Guehi.

The 24-year-old who impressed at Euro 2024 has emerged as a major target for Newcastle who have been looking all summer for a new centre-back after Tosin Adarabioyo left the Magpies hanging by opting to sign for Chelsea at the last minute.

It seems as though that U-turn is about to work out in Newcastle's favour though with Marc Guehi looking almost nailed-on to become a Newcastle player very soon.

The current hurdle in the way is price. Newcastle are trying to negotiate a few million off Crystal Palace's £65 million asking price, but the London club are standing firm.

As for the player himself, Guehi is said to be keen on the move but is currently stuck in limbo as the two clubs go back and forth over money.

Geordie Josh has posted a video on X of a Palace fan who caught up with Guehi outside of Palace's training ground and asked the England star if he was staying.

Guehi didn't say a word but there was a very noticeable shrug from the defender.

Granted a shrug as about as non-committal as it gets, however, it does seem to suggest that he's just waiting to hear if the clubs have reached an agreement.

You'd like to think that if he had no intention of moving to Newcastle he'd have been a lot more forthright with his answer.

So while it's not exactly Guehi to Newcastle confirmed, it's a pretty good indicator.
