Newcastle United's first summer signing Yankuba Minteh is going from strength to strength on loan at Eredivisie champions Feyenoord.

The £6million summer signing was immediately loaned out to the Dutch side when he signed on the dotted line for Newcastle. In fact, the deal happened so quickly that it wasn't until he was injured around Christmas time that Minteh even visited Newcastle.

Feyenoord manager Arne Slot has used the 19-year-old 25 times so far this season and has been repaid with six goals and three assists.

Minteh scored to stunning goals for Feyenoord this afternoon

Two of those goals came today in a 30-minute cameo against Almere City as the tricky winger scored two stunning goals to give Feyenoord a 2-0 win.

The first goal was stunning. A strike from the edge of the area that looped over the Almere keeper into the far corner. Perfectly placed, perfectly weighted, simply stunning.

Minteh's second, while not as spectacular, was equally brilliant. After starting off the attack from the same spot where he hit his first goal, Minteh followed the play into the box and was in the right place at the right time to fizz the ball home, but where it looked like he was about to give it the beans with his left foot, he somehow managed to position his right foot and get enough power on the ball sending it into the net.

Newcastle already have Miguel Almiron's replacement

There have been some complaints from Feyenoord coaches that sometimes Minteh's decision-making is all wrong and he has been accused of being too greedy at times, but he's young and that can easily be coached out of him, but on the whole, they are very happy with his contribution.

He's certainly caught the attention of Newcastle fans who are already looking forward to seeing what he can do in the black and white stripes. There were even calls for his loan to be cancelled in January so that he could come and help us out of our injury bind.

With Miguel Almiron's days looking numbered at Newcastle, it looks like we already have a ready-made replacement on the books. Whether he's ready to step up next season remains to be seen, but Minteh is giving us strong hints that he's going to be a future star.
