Newcastle United are down at Brentford for the final game of the 2023/24 Premier League season. Kick-off is 4pm with no live UK TV coverage because Jurgen Klopp's last game is seemingly more important than the race for Europe.

The rumour that Anthony Gordon didn't travel with the squad to Brentford turned out to be true as the winger misses the final game of the season.

This means he will also not be involved in the upcoming controversial friendly in Australia with the teams flying out after today's game.

Eddie Howe has, of course, picked Nick Pope to start in goal after I was convinced it wouldn't happen by my esteemed colleague so I put Martin Dubravka in my predicted lineup.

Plenty of changes by Eddie Howe

Eddie Howe has made several changes

Harvey Barnes replaces the absent Anthony Gordon on the left of the attack with Jacob Murphy on the right.

Callum Wilson has to make do with a place on the bench with the Daily Mail's 4-4-2 theory thrown right out of the window.

Joelinton gets his first start since returning from injury while Kieran Trippier drops to the bench as Eddie Howe rings the changes.

Howe has options on the bench again

The bench is solid with Miguel Almiron, Elliot Anderson, Callum Wilson and Trippier available as impact subs.

Former Magpie Ivan Toney leads the line for Brentford backed up by Bryan Mbuemo who has been linked with Newcastle in recent weeks.

Let's see if all these changes work out for Eddie Howe and the Magpies can finish off the season in style. Howay the lads!
