Before Brentford v Newcastle United got underway today we reported on a post on X that involved Anthony Gordon.

A young Newcastle fan called Jozef is currently in Manchester Children's Hospital and a woman, Laura, who is fundraising for the ward, put the feelers out to be put in touch with his favourite player, Anthony Gordon on social media on Saturday to get a card or signed shirt from him.

Today, Gordon got in touch with Laura via X prompting us, and many others, to praise Gordon for being so active and kind as to get in touch.

Gordon missed today's game and will not be travelling to Australia with the squad either which meant that he had a day off, but instead of spending it with his feet up, Gordon made his way to Manchester to be an absolute legend.

Gordon jumped straight in the car and headed to Manchester

Gordon went and met with little Jozef, taking him a shirt and sitting with him for a while to absolutely make his day.

Phenomenal stuff by Gordon who, as we said before, continues to show is true class as part of the Newcastle United set-up. Even Laura herself, a Manchester City fan, couldn't praise Gordon enough, saying:

"I've never been more emotional in my LIFE. Honestly, stay tuned guys for what an immense lad you have at Newcastle United. I'm lost for words at what you've all done in less than 24hrs - mind blowing. Best of luck to you all today. Unreal people. @anthonygordon is a treasure"

We absolutely love this story

Laura posted a series of tweets/posts/x's whatever, to detail the full story, so I'm going to copy it from her X and post it here for those who don't have access because it's such a brilliant story.

"Do I know anyone with connections at Newcastle FC? Theres a little lad at Manchester Children's Hospital right now, the sweetest, most polite kid ever, stuck in that ward on the start of his journey w childhood cancer - huge Newcastle fan, favourite player by far Anthony Gordon.

"Would love to be able to get a boost in the way of a signed card or shirt to keep his spirits up, please share if you know anyone who might have connections with Newcastle

"Newcastle & England fans. This guy is your GUY. What an ANGEL. Yesterday, I sent a tweet out to my paltry amount of followers, asking for help to get a signed card/shirt, anything really, for a little lad who's on the same ward as my sons 8yo sister, both of them fighting cancer.

"Jozef is a lovely lad, shining politeness and positivity all over the ward, but he's fighting Leukemia & is a massive NUFC fan, his favourite player naturally is Anthony Gordon.

"12 hours & a phone melting amount of retweets & DM'S later this angel @anthonygordon contacts me & says he's on his way to Jozef at Manchester Children's Hospital immediately, like On. His. Way. Right. Now

"He saw my message and set off! And he was there immediately. People had messaged me to say what a sound human Anthony is & that this shout out would work his way up to him eventually, but you don't ever think it will do you? But he got in the car straight away, no questions asked

"These guys are elite athletes by profession and spend their lives understandably concentrating on their job. Regardless of that, Anthony turned up a couple of hours after seeing my tweet, driven down to Manchester by his lovely girlfriend.

"Jozef's fighting Leukemia & Anthony's given him the boost to keep on fighting - he & his plight, & all the kids fighting childhood cancer are boosted by these acts of kindness like Anthony has given today. & they, & their families never forget this kindness shown. What a guy."
