Newcastle United are still sweating on the news surrounding Sandro Tonali and the length of his impending suspension.

It's a foregone conclusion that Newcastle will be without Sandro Tonali for a length of time owing to his involvement in the illegal betting scandal which is currently being investigated by the Italian Football Federation.

It's understood that we won't have to wait too long to find out the damage with Craig Hope suggesting that it will be early this week.

Tonali received a standing ovation on Saturday

Tonali came off the bench to a hero's welcome on Saturday to play out the final 20 minutes against Crystal Palace and that has been widely believed to have been his last game before his suspension starts, although, with no announcement yet, some fans are hopeful that Tonali can feature in the Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday.

Hope doesn't believe that to be the case, though, posting an update on X on Monday evening suggesting Tonali will have learned his fate before kick-off on Wednesday.

"No announcement on Sandro Tonali ban expected tonight, but understanding is it will come before Wednesday, meaning he is unlikely to play against Dortmund"

We will likely see Tonali again for Newcastle

If that is the case then we have seen the last of Sandro Tonali in a black and white shirt... manufactured by Castore.

Newcastle are still supporting Tonali 100% and they have no desire to rip up his contract, regardless of the length of the ban, so we will likely see Tonali playing for Newcastle once again in the future.
