It feels like ages since Newcastle United have had players in WhoScored?'s Premier League Team of the Week, but like buses, you wait around for ages and then two come along at once.

Unlike Troy Deeney's selections for the BBC, which are based on personal opinion, the WhoScored? Team of the Week is made up of players who received the highest ratings for each position over the weekend, taking into account all of the stats tracked on the site.

We've said a few times that there were only a couple of players who stuck to their level for the full 90 minutes on Sunday as Newcastle followed up an impressive first-half display with 45 minutes of pure dross.

Lewis Hall didn't let his levels drop; he merely switched from an attacking performance to a solid defensive one, so it's no surprise to see him in the WhoScored? XI.

While Lewis Miley picked up the accolade of 'Player of the Weekend' on the BBC, he doesn't feature on the WhoScored? team with Alexander Isak making the cut, likely boosted by scoring two goals.

Lewis Hall (Newcastle) - 8.40

Perhaps the game of the weekend came at St James’ Park on Sunday where it finished 4-3 to Newcastle against high-flying Nottingham Forest. Key to the hosts’ first-half turnaround was left-back Lewis Hall, who provided the assist for Lewis Miley’s equaliser, before practically setting up Jacob Murphy’s goal two minutes later, and then winning the penalty that Alexander Isak would convert shortly after. The Chelsea academy graduate also made more tackles than any other player on the pitch (5), in a fine all-round display.
Alexander Isak (Newcastle) - 8.36

After four matches without a goal - a sizeable drought by his recent standards - Alexander Isak returned to form for Newcastle with a brace in the win over Nottingham Forest on Sunday. Isak struck twice in the space of two first-half minutes against Forest, first from the penalty spot, and then a classic centre-forward’s finish, after being found by Joe Willock.

Lewis Hall was outstanding against Nottingham Forest

We're glad to see Lewis Hall getting the acknowledgement his performance deserved. He scooped the Player of the Match award by Sky Sports, has been touted as the best player on the pitch by both myself and Rich on here, but weirdly only got the two merit stars by Craig Hope on his post-match YouTube video with the journalist awarding the top spot to Joe Willock.

Hall has had a few rough weeks where he's not been anywhere near his best, but this was the Lewis Hall we paid £28 million for. An outstanding showing.

Alexander Isak got on the scoresheet twice, and that's what he's there to do, but he does so much more that often goes unnoticed. He was pretty anonymous in the second half, but that was not his fault at all, Newcastle barely saw the ball.
