We don't always agree with what Troy Deeney has to say, but the former Watford man was singing the praises of Lewis Miley on Match of the Day 2 last night and we absolutely agree with what he was saying about our young star.

Newcastle United's teenage sensation made his first start in exactly a year against Nottingham Forest after a run of bad injuries kept him out of action, but the 18-year-old wasted no time in reminding us all why we were all such abuzz about the lad last year.

Marking his return with a goal, his second of the season after that beauty in the FA Cup, the academy graduate put in a shift that any player would be proud of, let alone someone as young as he is.

Match of the Day 2 singled him out to focus on after the game with Troy Deeney seemingly in awe of what the lad can do.

Troy Deeney waxed lyrical about Lewis Miley's performance

Deeney remarked about Miley's tenacity and drive but also coolness under pressure, citing it as a very 'mature' performance.

"Take away from that baby face, this is a mature man that's playing in here. To drop [Sandro] Tonali and put him in that shows the confidence that Eddie Howe has in him.

"He's one of these young players, he's always in space, he's always got time.

"Look at the tenacity, he's from the Toon, he wants this so bad. But these are all the scrappy things you don't get in 23s football."

Eddie Howe now has some tough calls to make in the middle of the park

Looking at Miley's goal, despite saying that he thinks Matz Sels should have saved it, Deeney does call it an 'unbelievable finish'.

Miley is giving Eddie Howe something to think about now, and in fairness, after his performance on Sunday, so too is Joe Willock.

These are those 'nice' problems to have, and if we can sort out this Jekyll and Hyde nature, we'll be flying.
