Three more Newcastle United fixtures moved for TV coverage including Tyne-Wear derby ... maybe
Newcastle United have had more changes to their fixture schedule today as the TV rights holders have made their picks for their March games.
The Magpies are a regular feature on TV these days, so it's hardly a surprise that three more fixtures involving the Toon have been selected for live broadcast.
March's selections see changes to games against Manchester United, Chelsea and Sunderland, with a small caveat over that last one.
The Carabao Cup final is set to take place on Sunday, 22nd March and with Newcastle trailing in the semi-final 2-0 after the first leg, it's unlikely that the Magpies will be involved, but should they achieve the impossible and overturn the deficit at the Etihad Stadium, the trip to Wembley would clash with the current derby date.
Newcastle have had three fixtures moved in March
First up in March is Manchester United at St James' Park on Wednesday 4th. That was originally set to kick off at 8 pm but has now been pushed to 8:15 pm to be broadcast on TNT Sports.
The trip to Chelsea on 14th March has moved from 3 pm to 5:15 pm and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.
And, should Newcastle not make it to Wembley for the third time in four seasons, The Magpies will host Sunderland on Sunday, 22nd March at 12 pm, a day later than originally scheduled.
Do it for me, lads!
Newcastle have a near-impossible task to make it to Wembley again, but all I'm saying is, last year they won the Carabao Cup on my folks' wedding anniversary, and this year the final is set to take place on my birthday, so ... omens. Maybe?
In truth, I'd take a derby win on my birthday if we can't retain the Carabao Cup. Whichever game we play on that Sunday, it had better not ruin my day, is all I'm saying.
He says as if he has celebrated a single birthday since his 21st.
