Fans of Newcastle United are still reeling after an intense summer where nothing really went right for the Magpies.
The transfer window was poor with lacklustre signings and a failure to move on big players that could have opened up the club's spending options.
Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi left the club with Craig Hope revealing recently that they were actually forced out by Darren Eales.
Newcastle brought in a world-class sporting director in Paul Mitchell, but his arrival seemed to immediately unsettle Eddie Howe who was and in fact, still is, a top candidate for the England job.
All that drama could have been instantly forgotten if Newcastle got off to a flying start this season, and while they are undefeated and have seven points from nine in the Premier League while still being involved in the Carabao Cup, the team's performances have left a lot to be desired.
Despite all of this, though, things behind the scenes are coming along nicely. The club revealed a new partnership with Red Bull yesterday, replacing Monster Energy as the club's official energy drink and part of that announcement involved a very healthy stat.
Newcastle's global TV audience increased 62% last year. Expanding the club's global following is a massive part of the club's plans. The more followers, the more money the club brings in.
As we mentioned this morning, too, Newcastle will be awaiting the outcome of Manchester City's case against the Premier League for clamping down on Associated Party Transactions.
Should City win their case, Newcastle's owners will be able to have PIF-backed companies sponsor the training ground, kit, and stadium for whatever they see fit.
Generating more income is the name of the game right now after the club was caught out by PSR this summer. Something they never want to have to face again.
