Newcastle United have officially pulled out of the race to sign Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

There had been talks of a £40million move for the England international but any chance of a deal has now collapsed, most likely due to the asking price from the Toffees.

It is well known that Newcastle are struggling to make marquee signings due to ongoing struggles with PSR, the breakdown of this deal seems to be the icing on the cake.

The deal for Newcastle winger Yankuba Minteh also looks to be off, the deal would've been like a PSR-related swap deal where both parties could trade freely without the risk of breaching any of the Premier League's set rules.

Minteh set to stay in Newcastle... for now.

The Gambian international spent last season on loan at Feyenoord, scoring 10 goals in 27 league games and playing his part in the team's Dutch Cup win.

Football super journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that Minteh chose Everton as it was his 'priority'. This comes after French side Lyon were also interested in signing the 19-year-old.

Minteh has attracted interest from many clubs across Europe, as well as Lyon, Roma, Borussia Dortmund and Marseille are also keen.

Calvert-Lewin could move abroad following Newcastle's breakdown.

Earlier today, ChronicleLive reported that Premier League clubs West Ham and Brentford had enquired about a deal for Calvert-Lewin.

As it stands, no bids have been placed.

Serie A side AC Milan are also interested in the 27-year-old as a replacement for the outgoing Olivier Giroud who is set to leave Milan for the MLS.

Everton are holding out for £40m to let Calvert-Lewin go.
