Newcastle United face Liverpool in the first of two meetings within the space of a month on Wednesday night. First up is the Premier League game at Anfield ahead of the Carabao Cup final at Wembley.

It has been 31 long years since Newcastle last won at Anfield, which adds a bit of pressure to proceedings, but at the same time, really takes a big chunk of pressure off as nobody is expecting the Magpies to take three points on Wednesday night.

Eddie Howe strongly hinted that Sven Botman could make it in time to face Liverpool, so on that basis, we've included him in our lineup as we expect Howe to go with a similar tactic to the one that brilliantly dealt with Arsenal at St James' Park.

Of course, this isn't Arsenal and it's not St James' Park, so it remains to be seen if it works, but it feels like our best bet.

Bit of a change around for Eddie Howe

Goalkeeper

Nick Pope - It seems like order has been restored in the goalkeeper pecking order and it's Pope until the end of the season now.

Defenders

Tino Livramento - There's a small chance Howe goes with Kieran Trippier, but we think he'll stick with the younger right-back.

Fabian Schar - Fabian will take the RCB berth in the lineup of three centrebacks, unless Sven Botman doesn't make the cut, in which case he'll shift over to CB to make way for Emil Krafth.

Sven Botman - It did sound as though there was a good chance Botman will be involved, but if not we expect Emil Krafth to drop in. We can't use Kieran Trippier as RCB, it was a disaster last time.

Dan Burn - Big Dan Burn has been a rock at the back all season/

Lewis Hall - The player of the match on Sunday, hopefully he'll pick up where he left off.

Midfielders

Bruno Guimaraes (c) - Captain Bruno will be the only midfielder to keep his place from Sunday.

Sandro Tonali - Came through his cameo unscathed on Sunday and is likely to start. A shame for Lewis Miley and Joe Willock who both had good games, but Tonali has become too important.

Forwards

Jacob Murphy - Part of the front three that simply can't be broken up right now.

Alexander Isak - Will be looking to show Mo Salah a thing or two.

Anthony Gordon - Should be feeling the pressure to perform again now that Harvey Barnes is fit.

Substitutes

Eddie Howe will have a decent bench to use should he opt for this formation. Joe Willock and Lewis Miley will be itching to get on the pitch after their performances on Sunday.

Harvey Barnes can change games from off the bench and Callum Wilson will be desperate to prove himself, especially after his selfish play on Sunday.

Kieran Trippier can be introduced to bail out the defence if things are going off the rails, too. We've got a strong, capable side, and we shouldn't be fearful of anyone.

HOWAY THE LADS!!
