Newcastle United could be offered another chance to sign a German international striker as his time at Borussia Dortmund looks to be coming to an end.

Fabrizio Romano has posted a statement on X from the agent of former Newcastle target Yousouffa Moukoko saying that the player wants to leave BvB this summer after the club failed to offer him the first-team opportunities he felt he was promised.

Newcastle had sounded out a move for the twice-capped Germany international last year and weighed up a potential January move for the 19-year-old but pulled the plug - probably a good idea at the time now that we know the PSR nightmare that was awaiting us.

Moukoko's agent is now sounding out possibilities of a move to England, Spain and France, and with Newcastle needing somebody to support Callum Wilson, they'd be crazy not to make a move.

Newcastle have started looking for a backup striker

Yesterday it was claimed that Newcastle were eyeing Will Osula from Sheffield United as a cheap back-up option, but it looks like Moukoko won't cost the Earth either and could be the better option.

Grabbing five goals in the 613 minutes that Dortmund gave him last season is a very impressive strike rate and if Moukoko could replicate that kind of lethal finishing in the Premier League we could snap up a bargain.

Moukoko's agent has indicated that a deal won't cost much to get done as the door is wide open for him to leave despite having two years remaining on his contract. Surely he has to be worth a punt.

This looks to be an ideal signing if the club are interested

It's pretty clear that Newcastle aren't going to splash the cash on a striker, especially with Wilson remaining at the club, so it makes sense to go for a young, cheap forward who can develop into a star, and in the right environment, Moukoko could be that striker.

There's likely to be plenty of interest from elsewhere, so Newcastle will have to play the game and not try to rob him from BvB or another club will just come and blow us out of the water, but as for personal terms, we can offer a lot that other clubs maybe can't.

With Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson's injury record, the lad is practically guaranteed first-team football next season, and it seems that's all he wants. This is definitely one to watch.
