One of the first things the new owners of Newcastle United did when they took over the club four years ago was to relieve Steve Bruce of his managerial duties.

Bruce remained in charge just long enough to register his 1000th game as manager before he was let go ahead of bringing in Eddie Howe.

Not a wink of sleep was lost that night by Newcastle fans as Bruce's tenure had been, for the most part, horrific. A lack of tactics, a lack of care and an abundance of holidays are what Bruce was mostly known for.

Add to that, thinner skin than Donald Trump and the former Manchester United defender was a nightmare. He blamed everyone else for his shortcomings and really couldn't handle criticism.

The Universe is clearly trying to tell him something. Will he listen?

Despite that, he has some staunch supporters in the media who insist that he is a top manager. And yet, the reality is we saw Bruce slide down the football pyramid and failing at every level on the way.

He failed at West Brom and then ended up at League One Blackpool, where he has lasted just over a year before they wielded the axe last night after another defeat at home to Wimbledon.

Surely, now, it's time for Bruce to realise that the game has moved on way past his capabilities. He simply does not have what it takes to manage in the modern game.

Are we ready for more Steve Bruce in the media?

Of course, if he does retire from management, that just means we'll likely get more of him in the media, and that's just as tragic as watching him try and manage.

We'll have to hear all the lies and slander that he's become so known for. Remember when Dwight Gayle told the story about how he reacted after the takeover and how well Bruce took that?

Imagine how he's going to tell his stories when he's not encumbered by the restrictions of having an employer who may not take kindly to how you speak in public. Christ.

To be honest, Bruce Untamed could actually be amusing.
