Former Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle recently revealed some home truths on a podcast that proved what we as Newcastle fans knew all along - Steve Bruce is the laziest, most clueless manager in football.

Newcastle's ex-number nine spoke about a time when Steve Bruce responded to his and Matt Ritchie's claims for some tactical help by saying he doesn't do tactics, just get out there and work hard.

Gayle also touched on the feud between Bruce and Daily Mail journalist Craig Hope and threatened the careers of his players if anyone spoke to Hope.

Yet, somehow, despite all this, the "Nice Guy Bruce" illusion persisted and his friends in the media all continued to support him.

Steve Bruce was asked for his thoughts on what Gayle had said on the Open Goal podcast, and the Blackpool boss showed exactly who he really is with his response.

"Is that the legendary Dwight Gayle, is it? Who missed the chance in the quarter-final against Manchester City? Is that the same Dwight Gayle? Interesting.

"I've been around the block a long, long time. I've only managed 1050 games, but according to Dwight, I don't know what I'm doing. I'll let other people make their mind up and a bit more established than Dwight ever was."

Practically every other manager in the game would have simply said something along the lines of "They're entitled to their opinion, I know my truth, let them think what they want," or some other way of just brushing it off.

Not thin-skinned Brucey, though, oh no. He has to retort with sheer sarcasm and take aim at Dwight Gayle. Grow up, Steve. Even if what Gayle said wasn't 100% factual, just laugh it off as someone's opinion.

Steve Bruce: The Donald Trump of football managers - Egotistical, clueless, thin-skinned, childish and somehow still in a job.
