We are going to be breaking down every reason to watch the first round of group games in Euro 2024 from a Newcastle United perspective covering players who play, have played or have been linked to Newcastle.
There will be a few tenuous links as we cover some games, but we will justify every selection.
Obviously, once the first round of fixtures is done there's no real point in doing more as every Nation will have been covered at least once.
Slovenia and Denmark get England's Group C underway in the 5pm kick-off with a couple of reasons for interested Toon fans to keep an eye on the game.
It's definitely a case of quality over quantity when it comes to reasons to keep an eye on Slovenia for Newcastle fans.
Benjamin Sesko, linked in the last two summer transfer windows with a move to Newcastle will lead the line for Slovenia this evening. Sesko switched flavours of Red Bull last year moving from RB Salzburg to RB Leipzig, and despite Newcastle and Arsenal making moves to bring him to the Premier League this summer, the 21-year-old has stated his intent to stay at Leipzig next season.
That shouldn't put Newcastle off completely as there's always next year, he's still young enough that we could wait a couple more years before bringing him to St James' Park. He's definitely one to watch in this tournament.
Denmark have a couple of Newcastle-connected players worth mentioning, and one that isn't but we're going to anyway.
Centre-back Joachim Andersen of Crystal Palace was a name that we kept seeing over and over again linked with Newcastle last summer but the Eagles managed to keep hold of the 28-year-old and were all the better for it as he had a great season.
Barcelona's Andreas Christensen is another Danish defender who as been with the Toon for a while and even as recently as yesterday. The 28-year-old former Chelsea man clearly remains of interest to Eddie Howe so it'll be worth seeing how he gets on in Germany.
Finally, before he moved to Manchester United, Newcastle were looking at Rasmus Hojlund. He went to Old Trafford instead so that makes him instantly poo and not worth talking about anymore. So there!
