Sandro Tonali starts as Howe makes several changes - Our predicted XI to take on Nottingham Forest

Newcastle United have a Carabao Cup tie with Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night which could give Eddie Howe a chance to change things up.

The Carabao Cup has cruelly tied us with a Premier League side away from home yet again so Howe will still look to put out a strong team, but we expect there'll still be plenty of changes to the team that struggled against Bournemouth on Sunday.

Sandro Tonali returns from his 10-month ban and we expect Howe will throw him straight back into the action at the expense of Sean Longstaff.

We also think that Howe may give a debut to new signing Will Osula to give Alexander Isak a rest and also putting Harvey Barnes on the left and resting Anthony Gordon.

How we think Eddie will line them up tomorrow

Goalkeeper

Nick Pope - It may be an opportunity to change things up but you don't drop Nick Pope if you don't need to

Defence

Kieran Trippier - Tripps changed the game when he was introduced on Sunday and has earned himself his first start of the season

Emil Krafth - Another run at centre-back for the Swedish right-back as Fabian Schar continues his suspension

Dan Burn - BDB has started the season very well so we don't want to mess with that

Lewis Hall - Hall will give us more of an attacking threat than Lloyd Kelly, however, Howe could call upon Matt Targett

Midfield

Sandro Tonali - Back in the lineup at long last, a cup game is the ideal place for Tonali to make his return

Bruno Guimaraes - We're 50/50 on Bruno, he could be another big name rested by Howe but we're going with him starting again

Joelinton - Joey will be looking to put the nightmare of Sunday behind him so will want to get back out on the pitch ASAP, but again, Joe Willock could be thrown in in his place

Forwards

Jacob Murphy - Another 50/50 call, it could be Miguel Almiron or Murphy but we've stuck with Murph to keep the number of changes down

Will Osula - An EFL cup tie is the perfect time to rest Alexander Isak and give Will Osula his chance to shine

Harvey Barnes - Frustrated at being left out of the starting lineup, Barnes will get his start tomorrow with Gordon getting a rest.

We struggled to agree on a lineup for this one

We've batted around several different starting XI's for this one. Howe could keep everything as is, or we've even come up with a side that has eight changes from the Bournemouth game.

That would see Pope stay in goal, a back four of Trippier, Krafth, Burn and Targett with a midfield trio of Tonali, Lewis Hall and Joe Willock behind a front three of Miggy, Osula and Barnes.

It's just a case of how saucy Eddie Howe is feeling we suppose.
