A report from Talksport yesterday claimed that West Ham United winger Jarrod Bowen is the subject of renewed interest from Dan Ashworth and Newcastle United.

NUFC won't have a clear run at West Ham's star man

The Magpies are likely to face stiff competition for the 26-year-old's signature, though, with Jürgen Klopp seemingly fancying Bowen as his replacement for Mohamed Salah at Anfield.

Speculation remains rife regarding a potential Saudi Arabia move for Salah in January, although he resisted the temptation to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Riyad Mahrez, and Allan Saint-Maximin, plus former teammates Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, and Roberto Firmino in the summer just gone.

With the Egyptian's contract coming to an end in June, the constraints of financial fair play might mean that Liverpool are tempted to cash in rather than lose their star man for free. Bowen is seen as the ideal replacement, being a goalscoring right-winger who is predominantly left-footed.

The winger seems like a perfect fit for Eddie Howe

Newcastle's recruitment team have apparently been keenly observing Bowen for some time and the price West Ham will ask for one of their star men isn't thought to be prohibitive.

By January, the winger will only have 18 months remaining on his contract at the London Stadium and negotiations over a new deal appear to have stalled for the former Hull City player.

Talksport believes the lure of "top-tier clubs like Liverpool and Newcastle might be irresistible", especially if the Magpies manage to get themselves in contention for significant silverware this season.

The 26-year-old been in fine form again this season

Bowen has five goals and a solitary assist from the first seven Premier League games and played a crucial role in West Ham's UEFA Europa Conference League victory last year.

Consistency has been a big theme of his time at the London Stadium and he shone again during the Hammers' 2-1 win at SC Freiburg last night, setting up Lucas Paquetá with a pinpoint cross.

Of course, Bowen will be in action against the Magpies on Sunday, giving him a chance to show his supposed suitors just what he's capable of. Here's hoping he doesn't play too well, though!
