Report: Two Premier League clubs lining up £100m raid on Newcastle United this summer

Newcastle United are gearing up for a busy summer in the transfer market with so many holes to fill in the leaky squad due to long-term injuries.

The squad was already looking pretty barebones this season after the club was it with injury after injury, but as players started to return, things were looking brighter for the Magpies, until disaster struck again.

Newcastle now have two centre-backs out for the rest of the season and a large chunk of next season too, the need for a new goalkeeper has increased this season after it has become apparent that if we lose Nick Pope we're up the creek. Right-wing has been an issue all season and strikers have also given Eddie Howe his fair share of headaches.

Now, if the report in The Sun is to be believed, that headache could get even worse for Eddie Howe.

Arsenal's interest in Isak is nothing new

The Sun is claiming that Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are preparing to launch a £100million raid on Newcastle for striker Alexander Isak.

Eddie Howe recently came out and said that the club have no intention of letting the Swedish international leave this summer, but as we said earlier when talking about Bruno Guimaraes, the club might just be desperate enough for funds that they do let a big player go.

Financial Fair Play is crippling the game and absolutely throttling Newcastle who have the funds to go out and rebuild their squad, but aren't allowed to because the Premier League would rather keep the gate up around their precious "big six".

Tottenham are still looking to replace Harry Kane

Arsenal's interest in Isak is not news, but now with Tottenham's name in the mix, that's added an extra dimension to things. Spurs will be looking for someone to fill the gap left by Harry Kane and Isak has repeatedly shown his prowess in front of goal for Newcastle.

For us, £100million should just be a starting point before we even contemplate the idea of selling Isak, especially as we are already short of bodies up front.

We can't see this one happening, but the more this injury curse depletes our squad, the more nervous we get that a big-name player will have to make way to raise funds.
