Newcastle United look set to part company with Miguel Almiron this summer after a mooted move to Saudi Arabia failed to come to fruition in January.

Miguel Almiron is said to be ready to leave Newcastle this summer after it has become clear that he's no longer first-choice to start on Newcastle's right wing.

The £21million signing from Atlanta United has dramatically improved under Eddie Howe after struggling for years since his arrival in January 2019, but there has always been a feeling that there was something lacking in his game.

Heavily one-footed, Almiron's lack of confidence in using his right foot for even the most simple of things has often been a source of frustration for Newcastle fans.

Miggy and Murphy have been battling over the same spot

Plenty of clubs are said to be interested in Miggy

Now The Boot Room's Graeme Bailey has said that the Paraguayan has been told he can leave the club this summer and he's likely to do just that.

Interest still remains from Saudi Arabia after Al-Shabab's failed attempt to land Miggy in January, but Bailey also suggests that clubs in the MLS and even in the Premier League could be keen to take the winger on this summer.

Almiron had his best season in black and white last year, particularly in October where he staged his very own Goal of the Month competition, but he's not come anywhere near those heights this season, although he has still chipped in with a few goals.

Almiron is one of the first-team players we can afford to lose

Miggy has also fallen foul of the injury curse that has swept through the club this season and is only just now returning to action, but he will struggle to get into the team ahead of Jacob Murphy, especially after his two assists at the weekend.

We feel that Miggy is definitely one of the first-team players we can afford to lose this summer, but obviously, we don't want to be letting him go for next to nothing, although we're not sure we'd manage to get more than around £18million for the 30-year-old.

That still wouldn't be a bad return on a £21million signing almost six years after the fact, especially given he's now hit that 30 mark, which, if you've ever played Football Manager, you'll know is when you sell, sell, sell.
