There are a few first-team Newcastle United players who could be seen as surplus to requirements that the club will look to move on this summer.

At this point we know who these players are as stories surrounding their exit are practically a daily occurrence. Indeed, three of them were linked with exits back in January and still continue to be seen as likely to leave.

Miguel Almiron keeps digging his heels in and refusing a move to Saudi Arabia after a move collapsed in January, but it's believed that the Paraguayan will be moved on this summer.

Callum Wilson was linked to West Ham, Chelsea and Saudi Arabia in January, and had continued to be rumoured to be heading towards the St James' Park exit, however, his latest injury setback is likely to put the kibosh on a summer move again.

Trippier looks bound for the exit

Trippier exit now seems 'increasingly certain'

The third potential "big" exit is Kieran Trippier who was the target of Bayern Munich in January before that move collapsed.

Now The Telegraph are reporting that his exit is 'increasingly certain' as he, like Wilson and Almiron, is being linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.

We recently said that cashing in on Trippier now would make perfect sense given his age and most importantly, his form over the last 12 months. With widely reported issues in his personal life, a break away to a new country for a year or two might be just what he needs.

If Newcastle could recoup some of the £12m they spent on Trippier they absolutely should

Newcastle will definitely miss his influence around the club. His leadership has been more important than his performances on the pitch recently, but if we can pick up any kind of return on our £12million outlay, we'd be fools not to.

We'd love to see Trippier return to the club in a coaching capacity once he hangs up his boots, but for now, we just don't feel he's got the quality to take us to the next level anymore, as much as it pains us to say.

We'll have to see what happens, though, as after Howe has been given assurances that he will be involved in player recruitment and sales, he may put his foot down in a bid to keep Trippier. We know how Wor Eddie is loyal to a fault.
