Newcastle United are "favourites" to sign defensive duo Lloyd Kelly and Tosin Adarabioyo on a free this summer, according to reports.

Rumours have circulated throughout 2024 that the Magpies would be signing the two stars from Bournemouth and Fulham respectively. Talks have been progressing and despite interest from Chelsea and Manchester United, it looks as if both players will be wearing black and white next season.

Kelly has made it clear that he wishes to leave Bournemouth upon the expiry of his contract.

Chelsea believes they hold the advantage in the race to sign Tosin and think having European football could lure him away from the Magpies.

Fabrizio Romano sees Newcastle as favourites for Tosin

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano took to The Debrief podcast to discuss incomings for Newcastle.

He said: “First of all it’s an open situation, I still see Newcastle as favourites because Newcastle started to work on this deal in March.

“For Tosin there is still discussions ongoing but I see Newcastle as favourites. Interest from Chelsea has been there since the final week of March, Chelsea are well informed on Tosin.

“I’m not aware of anything advanced with Chelsea. I’m not sure anything is decided with Chelsea, I think the situation is still quite open with Newcastle pushing to make it happen.”

Fabrizio Romano: Lloyd Kelly will be a Newcastle player

Romano also answered questions regarding the future of Kelly. The 25-year-old made 25 appearances under Andoni Iraola at Bournemouth last season.

“Newcastle want Tosin and Lloyd Kelly," Romano said.

"I expect Lloyd Kelly to 100% be a Newcastle player in the summer transfer window.”

There is a good chance we could see a more concrete update at the beginning of June when players leaving due to the Bosman rule can be announced.
