Newcastle United are making moves in the free-agent market and work has begun to snap up a couple of players when their current contracts expire before the summer.

Bournemouth's Lloyd Kelly has long been suggested as a likely target for Newcastle, especially given his existing relationship with manager Eddie Howe who was the one who brought him to The Cherries in the first place.

Last night, reports from France, weirdly, stated that Kelly had a verbal agreement to once again team up with Eddie Howe, but now sources inside the club are telling The Telegraph a different story.

It seems that French journalist Santi Aouna may have jumped the gun as he reported a verbal agreement was in place with the 25-year-old defender.

It looks like it will be one of either Kelly or Adarabioyo

In fact, The Telegraph now says that it's Fulham's Tosin Adarabioyo who is the more likely to make the move to Tyneside.

The status around Tosin's next move seems to change with the wind, though, with some outlets adamant he will stay around the London area with Tottenham.

It also sounds like it will be one or the other for Eddie Howe, rather than bringing in both which is a shame given Newcastle's need for more defensive bodies. To bring in two Premier League-quality defenders on free transfers would be a genius move.

Newcastle apparently prefer Tosin Adarabioyo to Lloyd Kelly

The feeling is that Adarabioyo fits the profile more of what Newcastle are looking for given his ability to play on the right. He'd be seen as a back-up and eventual replacement for Fabian Schar.

Although, Newcastle's left-back options aren't exactly awe-inspiring so it seems odd that we'd not still go for Lloyd Kelly who can cover that position as well as centre-back.

Time will tell on both counts, and we're sure there'll be more twists and turns along the way in the meantime.
