Barcelona have once again been linked with an interest in Newcastle United's star man Bruno Guimaraes.

Journalists in Spain must be bored again as they've wheeled out the Bruno to Barca story again, but this time added a little extra spice by including a player-swap deal.

Bruno Guimaraes now has a £100m release clause

A report from Mundo Deportivo (via Sports Witness) claims that while Barca are aware of Bruno's fancy new £100m release clause, they are instead prepared to offer up members of their squad to make the deal happen.

Raphinha has been on Newcastle's radar for a while

The report, rather unsurprisingly given the spurious nature of the whole story, fails to name the Barca players being offered, although Newcastle have had their eye on the unsettled Raphinha for quite some time.

Let's be honest though, this is just a made-up story by a bored journalist who had a deadline to hit and nothing to write about.

Bruno is extremely settled and unlikely to move any time soon

Even if it is true and Barca do try, it'll not happen. Bruno Guimaraes may have a desire to play in Spain at some point, but he's so settled in Newcastle now and will undoubtedly feel that he has unfinished business here in terms of lifting some form of silverware for the club.

His Spain move will come one day, but not until we're done with him, and right now he's too much of an important figure to even consider selling and even if a club meets his release clause fee, we don't see him going anywhere for another couple of years.

Should the worst happen, though, we trust the board and the recruitment staff to find a suitable replacement, who knows? They may even manage to find someone better. A player leaving isn't the end of the world, no matter how much it stings at the time. Can any of you really say you've missed Allan Saint-Maximin this season?
