It seems that Newcastle United aren't messing about when it comes to the transfer window this summer.

Newcastle have historically been slow out of the blocks when it comes to transfer dealings, often seeing potential signings fall by the wayside due to inaction.

Eddie Howe looks keen to make sure those mistakes aren't made this year as Newcastle close in on their first signing of the summer before the window has even opened.

The Magpies have two potential free transfers lined up with Lloyd Kelly from Bournemouth apparently keen on joining up with his old boss Eddie Howe, while Tosin Adarabioyo from Fulham looks almost complete.

Newcastle could announce their first signing in the coming days

Craig Hope has posted on X this morning that progress has been made with Adarabioyo and barring any hitches, it should be signed, sealed and delivered soon.

"NUFC are closing in on free transfer signing of Tosin Adarabioyo

"Progress made this week and, barring any late hitches, deal should be finalised in London in coming days"

We hope that Newcastle can keep up this impressive pace in the transfer window

Last season Newcastle got off to a flying start by signing Yankuba Minteh but then things slowed considerably after that, hopefully history won't repeat itself and the signings will continue to come at a solid rate.

As well as Kelly and Adarabioyo there were strong rumours around a move for Valencia 'keeper Giorgi Mamardashvili which could happen sooner rather than later.

It's certainly a promising start in what we expect will be a busy summer for incoming and outgoing deals.
