Premier League club keeping an eye on 'restless' Newcastle United midfielder amid complaints of lack of game time
Newcastle United's midfield trio of Joelinton, Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes has often been hyped as one of, if not the best midfield in the Premier League.
That's fantastic for Newcastle United as a club, but it means the likes of Joe Willock, Sean Longstaff and Lewis Miley have had their work cut out for them getting minutes since that trio started to click.
Sean Longstaff looks to have secured himself a move away from St James' Park with a £15 million switch to Leeds United currently in the works.
Joe Willock's future has also been questioned by Newcastle fans, but it does feel highly unlikely that Newcastle will sanction the sales of any more midfielders, at least not without a replacement already identified.
Crystal Palace are keeping an eye on Lewis Miley
Crystal Palace had been reported to have an interest in Willock, but now a report in the iPaper has named Lewis Miley as a potential Palace target.
Claiming that Miley is feeling a tad 'restless' due to a lack of game time last season, Miley could be open to a move.
However, Newcastle have no intention of selling the young academy graduate, and with Longstaff's exit, Miley will have a clearer run at the first team next season. All it will take is an injury to one of the core three, and Miley and Willock will be competing over who gets the spot. Last season Eddie Howe relied on Joe Willock over Miley, but things may change next season.
Lewis Miley > Joe Willock
We certainly hope they do change. We were hoping that Howe would see sense and play Miley over Willock last season, and Willock's performances did little to convince us that we were wrong.
Miley spent a lot of last season out injured, and Howe was likely being protective of the youngster, which is understandable.
It's now time to give the lad more time to show what he can do. Howe has to start trusting him at some point, or he actually would be better off just letting him move on.
